Julie and I decided to take a little bike ride tonight before dinner at Lunken Airport trails with our son and his friend. Camera equipped at all times, I never miss out on an opportunity to shoot….I strapped my trusty pocket cam (Canon G9) to the handlebars of my mountain bike with a trusty Bogen Super Clamp and we were off.
While most of the on bike shots turned out nice enough, the ones after we put the bikes in the truck were what I found to be awesome. As we pulled into the lot off of the trail, Julie noticed a ridge that offered a spectacular blue sky backdrop and some nice greenery (thank you spring!) in the foreground.
A haven for bikers, rollerbladers and runners, this was a great opportunity to get some nice stock imagery of fitness outdoors.

Not to miss out on the action, Tre ponied up and offered what would be the funniest shots of the year. His Mickey Mouse goggles in hand, he started picking dandilions with his buddy and had me rolling in laughter!
More often than not, I have found myself staring at what “would have been” an excellent opportunity to capture the moment. I learned by missing out time and time again, until I was reading a Chase Jarvis Blog Entry that showed a photo of a helicopter leaving a mountaintop. It was then I realized, I needed to get a tag along camera.
Even with Battery Pack removed the Canon 5D just doesn’t cut it as a “portable rig”. I did some research and found that the G9 show in RAW mode had some excellent ratings and I was hooked. This little camera is built like a Russian tank. A solid metal build with sturdy and rugged feel, I had to have it.

I’ll be sharing some of my Opportunity…NOT MISSED shots with you on this blog, showing you what’s possible with the G9 and what I would have missed if I had not had it.
Enjoy the shots, and get out there and have some fun with your photography.
